CIHS Privacy Policy



In order to administer the Society CIHS needs to collect, hold and update certain items of personal data. We take the privacy of our Members' data very seriously.   


 The Society keeps the following items of members' personal data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations. 

 

1) The Membership Secretary keeps a password protected spreadsheet with the following information           

 your first name, surname, address and postcode

 your email address

 your home phone number and for some of you your mobile number

  your type of membership (individual or family) and subscriptions paid

  your attendance at meetings 

This information is kept for the sole purpose of running the Society and is not shared with anybody other than other Committee members and the Study Tour Organiser.

 

2) In order to send out emails to Member the Chairman, the Membership Secretary and the Events Manager and Web Organiser keep data in email contacts apps on their computers.

These apps are entirely separate from the Committee Member's own personal e-mail, are kept password protected, and contains the following

 your first name, surname, address and postcode

 your email address

 your home phone and for some of you your mobile number


You will note that when we send all Members an email we will send it to ourselves with a blind copy to the CIHS members so that you can see where it came from, but you can’t see others’ email addresses.     


3) The chairman also keeps some photographs of Members on his computer. The Events Manager and Web Organiser also keeps photographs of Members and historical documents for the Website.  These are kept for the purpose of keeping a record of events.

 

You can, at any time ask to see the data we hold in respect of you and ask us to correct any mistakes in the data. You can also opt out and ask for your personal data to be deleted from the Society's records. Members who leave will have their data removed from our records.



Information


The Societies website allows submissions and comments from its users and we try and check information, but The Society can not be held liable for inaccuracies or comments made by the website users.


Places to visit


The information held on the website was accuarate at the time of entry but it is your responsbility to check all information before leaving. The Society is not liable for any wasted trips.


Society Trips


When a visit has been arranged by The Society it must be understood that whilst The Society and individual commitee members have taken every care over the arrangements, we cannot accept responsibility for group or individual safety. It is your own responsibility to ensure your own safety and to act accordingly.
